This Just In: Lync 2013 Client Update for September 2014

The Lync 2013 Client has an update available that was released today, September 9th.

Some of the issues resolved:

  • When you sign in to Lync 2013 by using an Office 365 account, Lync 2013 prompts you for Open Authorization (OAuth) credentials.
  • Bad password count is incremented when Lync 2013 VDI plug-in pairs with a Lync 2013 client

The download and more detail of the issues referenced can be found here:

Any ideas on why this update is causing close to 30% of my Windows 7 clients to crash in ntdll.dll? Seems like removing updating BT drivers fixes most, but that’s not really a viable solution.

When the Lync client has a crash issue, it’s driver related. These are no fun to fix (if you even can without reverting) and it’s unclear what’s going on behind the scenes, only the developers would know for sure. That said, all I can recommend is to test the updates on each image or machine type before you deploy them to a wide audience.
